Born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Patrick Kabongo Mubenga has a scientific background. He was an amateur singer in a choir in Kinshasa. In 2007, he had an opportunity to join the Brussels Royal Conservatory in Marcel Vanaud’s class. From 2008 to 2010, he joined the Operastudio Vlaanderen in Gand (Belgium) with namely Christophe Prégardien, Ann Murray and Graham Johnson.
From 2010 to 2012 he did an artist residency at the Rouen Opera (France) where he played the roles of Monostatos (Die Zauberflöte – Mozart), the prologue (The turn of the screw – Britten), Guglielmo (Viva la Mamma – Donizetti), Count Errico (La Vera Costanza – Haydn) and Gastone (La Traviata – Verdi).
While doing an artist residency at the Opéra-Comique Academy in Paris from January to June juin 2013, he performed with Laurence Equilbey, Alain Altinoglu, Jérome Deschamps and Michel Fau.
He was awarded the 1st prize in the Vivonne international lyric singing competition (2013).
He played the role of The Judge in Le Balcon (Peter Eötvös) at L’Athénée Theatre (May 2014). Fritz in La Grande Duchesse (Offenbach) with Les Brigands Company in France, Tamino ( Die Zauberflöte, Mozart) at Nuit de Cheronne Theater in Tuffé (August 2014) and Le Comte Ory (Rossini) with Jean-Christophe Spinosi at Le Quartz Theater in Brest (2012).
More recently, he sang in Momento Mori (Les cris de Paris Company) at the Cervantino Festival in Mexico in October 2014 and he played Agenore (Re Pastore, Mozart) with Jean-Christophe Spinosi at the Quartz de Brest Theater in December 2014.
In 2014 – 2015 he will play Victor (Ciboulette, R. Hahn) with Laurence Equilbey at the Opéra-comique in Paris (April-May 2015), Artémidore (Amide, Lully) with Christophe Rousset at the Nancy Opera (June 2015), Tamino (Die Zaubertflöte, Mozart) in Szeged (Hungary) (July 2015).
